COVID-19 & Vaccination Update – April 20, 2021

The BC Government and PHO held a news conference yesterday and made a number of statements that may have an impact on the workplace. The eligibility age for the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine has been lowered to age 40 which now makes more of us eligible to get vaccinated. The government also introduced amendments to the Employment Standards Act that, if passed, will provide workers with up to three hours of paid leave to get each dose of their COVID-19 vaccine, effective April 19, 2021. Once the legislation becomes official, and we have the specific details, we will amend our Interim Employment Policy to reflect the changes. If taking leave for your vaccination please continue to code it as EMRSK but note the reason. Once the legislation passes we will issue a new updated code with instructions.
